Sonya Douglass, Ed.D.
Sonya Douglass, Ed.D. is an education leadership and policy scholar at Teachers College, Columbia University, where her research focuses on educational inequality, opportunity, and the effective education of Black and other historically disenfranchised students in the U.S.
Dr. Douglass currently serves as Chair of the Department of Organization and Leadership and Co-Director of the Urban Education Leaders Program (UELP) - a doctoral program for aspiring K-12 school superintendents. She is also Founding Director of the Black Education Research Center (BERC).
Professor Douglass is author of five books, including Learning in a Burning House: Educational Inequality and Dis(Integration). Her current work has expanded to include collaborations in South Africa, Ghana, and Brazil.
